Amazon third-party sellers had their biggest two-day period ever during the Prime Day 2021 event with Prime members in 20 countries shopping more than ever before, the company asserted.
In fact, third-party growth, nearly all of which comes from small and medium-sized businesses, was greater than that for the main Amazon-operated business, the company reported, even if it didn’t reveal the numbers involved. According to Amazon, Prime members purchased more than 250 million items worldwide.
The company indicated that its sales support in the two weeks leading up to Prime Day 2021 helped generate sales for smaller businesses, with the Amazon-funded Spend $10, Get $10 promotion giving third parties a lift. Amazon customers spent over $1.9 billion on more than 70 million small business products during the promotional period, the company asserted, a more than 100% year-over-year sales increase versus the Prime Day October 2020 promotional period.
Amazon stated that best-selling categories worldwide for Prime Day 2021 included tools, beauty, nutrition, baby care, electronics including Amazon Devices, apparel and household items. Top-selling products worldwide during Prime Day 2021 included iRobot Roomba 692 Robot Vacuum, Keurig K-Slim Coffee Maker, Apple Cider Vinegar Gummy Vitamins by Goli Nutrition and Crest 3D White Professional Effects Whitestrips.
With the back-to-school season upcoming, Prime members worldwide bought more than 600,000 backpacks, a million laptops, a million headphones, 240,000 notebooks, 40,000 calculators and 220,000 Crayola products, Amazon added.
